Silo-filler's disease: a pulmonary lesion produced by oxides of nitrogen present in fresh silage; in its acute form, it may lead to death from pulmonary edema or may go on to a subacute or chronic proliferative pulmonary disease, sometimes leading to chronic pulmonary invalidism.

Silo-filler's disease: Found in the atmosphere as a key ingredient in photochemical formation of smog and acid rain, Nitrogen Dioxide is a poisonous gas that forms during combustion. Toxic at high concentrations, it reacts with moisture in the air to form nitric acid, highly corrosive and hazardous to plants and animals. (NCI04)
