Sphenoidal emissary foramen: [TA] a minute inconstant foramen in the greater wing of the sphenoid bone, anterior and medial to the foramen ovale, transmitting a small emissary vein from the cavernous sinus. SYN: foramen venosum [TA], venous foramen, Vesalius foramen.
