Superior nuchal line: [TA] the ridge that extends laterally from the external occipital protuberance toward the lateral angle of the occipital bone; it gives attachment to the trapezius, sternocleidomastoid, and splenius capitis muscles. SYN: linea nuchae superior [TA].
