Chronic Granulomatous Disease (medical condition): A very rare inherited blood disorder where certain cells involved with immunity (phagocytes) are unable to destroy bacteria and hence the patient suffers repeated bacterial infections.
Chronic Granulomatous Disease: The CGD patient's defense system is not effective against certain bacteria and fungi, including E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus, as well as less common germs like Pseudomonas, Serratia, and Aspergillus.
