Up to 40% of people in the UK receiving strong drug treatment for epilepsy have been wrongly diagnosed. Instead, they are suffering from a cardiovascular condition which causes their blood pressure to drop suddenly and thus the fainting spells. A woman was taking epilepsy drugs which caused birth defects in her children and then found out she had never had epilepsy.
