A Wyoming man was awarded $1.175 million after doctors removed the wrong cervical disc during spinal surgery. Following surgery was done on the correct disc but another two surgeries failed to fix the damage caused by the removal of the first disc. $770,000 was awarded to the patient for pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life and his wife was awarded $175,000 for loss of consortium. Another $230,000 was awarded in economic damages to cover medical expenses and loss of wages. One of the largest medical malpractice insurer stopped writing policies in Wyoming last year making it harder and more expensive for Wyoming doctors to have insurance.
