A man was awarded $2.6 million by a jury in a malpractice case where the plaintiff claimed that doctors severed nerves in his abdomen during surgery to relieve back pain. Doctors claim that the man suffered a large abdominal hernia and that he was informed of the risk before the surgery. Doctors are arguing that the amount is exorbitant and $72,000 would cover the cost of the current surgeries. The judge is yet to set a date for the hearing.
