A medical centre and doctor paid $393,000 to a family who claimed medical malpractice. The case centered on the baby daughter who developed a staph infection in her umbilical cord stump. The doctor’s misdiagnosis and delayed treatment allowed the infection to spread and cause serious problems. She developed bacteremia, endocarditis, cerebritis and osteomyelitis.
