$80 million settlement won by consumers for overpriced blood pressure medication

An $80 million class-action settlement has been won by over 76,000 consumers of the blood pressure medication, Cardizem CD because the manufacturers conspired to prevent a cheaper form of the medication from being marketed. The settlement has been delayed because one woman has objected as she is trying to achieve a higher settlement. If her case is rejected, $25 million will be shared amongst 76,400 consumers, $30 million will go to insurance companies who footed the higher costs and Michigan insurers will receive $1 million.
