Research by a Spanish University has discovered that consumption of even small amounts of alcohol may amplify allergic reactions. Researchers found that alcohol increased the number of antibodies present (antibody presence is the bodies response to an allergy) and was a risk factor in the development of allergies. Nevertheless, researchers claim that these findings do not mean that people with allergies or at risk of allergies should avoid alcohol. Researchers have established that alcohol increases the immune response but they have yet to discover how it increases the risk of developing allergies.
