Alcohol consumption associated with heart arrhythmia

More than 35 alcoholic drinks per week leads to a significant increase risk in developing atrial fibrillation, a heart arrhythmia that can lead to stroke. It is also known as 'holiday heart syndrome' when people tend to binge drink and can be perceived as irregular beating of the heart or palpitations. Drinking moderately was not found to increase a person's risk of suffering from atrial fibrillation.
