Allergic Rhinitis symptoms alleviated with nasal ointment

Allergic rhinitis affects an estimated 20% of Americans and the number is increasing. A study in Germany has found a lipid-based nasal ointment helpful in alleviating the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Symptoms of allergic rhinitis include sneezing, itchy nose, throat, eyes and ears, excessive tears, nasal congestion and discharge and swelling of eyes. Current treatments of symptoms are usually antihistamines and corticosteroids which can have side effects. The results are promising but more study needs to be done on side effects and long term use.
