Cherries may have the potential to alleviate arthritic symptoms

Cherry growers are supporting studies which attempt to examine the possible therapeutic benefits of the fruit in treating arthritis. With the withdrawal of Vioxx recently, people are starting to reevaluate medications and are seeking more natural alternatives. Cherries are already known to contain helpful nutrients such as antioxidant vitamins, anthocyanins and melatonin. Cherries are still unrecognized by the national Arthritis Foundation as a possible treatment as they claim to have seen no clinical evidence of its benefits. Many people living in Wisconsin's cherry growing areas will testify that cherry consumption has helped their arthritis and in some cases totally removed the need for arthritis medication.
