Childhood asthma is a chronic problem

Asthma causes wheezing, coughing, choking, shortness of breath, chest tightness and the combination can lead to panic, which exacerbates the previously mentioned symptoms. 9 million children suffer from asthma during their lifetime, and over 5,000 deaths are attributed to the chronic disease. Poorly managed asthma results in missed school days, lost parent working hours, and frequent emergency hospital admissions. Asthma sufferers require a personal asthma management plan incorporating correct use of medications. Management of asthma attacks are to calm the child, reducing their anxiety, administer medication as prescribed and avoid environmental triggers such as smoke, pollen, dust, pets, certain weather conditions and over exertion.
