Court rules hospitals favor after man’s misdiagnosis

The Charlotte Regional Medical Center was cleared of any wrong doing after the jury voted in its favor. The case was started by the wife of a man after she believed that a misdiagnosis resulted in his premature death. The 67 year old man was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Doctors initially treated him with chemo for the lung cancer and then treated the lymphoma. The man died of lymphoma and an autopsy showed no evidence of lung cancer. The widow believes his lung cancer misdiagnosis delayed his lymphoma treatment and ultimately caused his premature death.
