Depression and anxiety following birth may be reduced by iron supplementation

The WHO reports that 24% of pregnant European women have anemia and 53% in America. A recent study has found that iron supplementation by anemic pregnant women reduced their risk of depression and anxiety after the birth. Thus iron supplementation may well decrease the risk of post-natal depression.
