A doctor lost a medical malpractice case after a woman alleged he misdiagnosed her ruptured appendix as a pelvic inflammation. Initially, the woman sought emergency treatment when she suffered severe abdominal pain and other conditions. The doctor diagnosed her with pelvic inflammatory disease despite her claims that it must be something else. She was referred to a gynecologist and discharged. The woman went to her physician after the pain continued for several more days and a scan revealed a ruptured appendix. She was quickly admitted for surgery and it was found that the previously burst appendix was necrotic and had formed a large abscessed cavity. She required many more surgeries and treatments. The woman was seeking $25,000 in damages.
