Fatty acids benefit mother and child

A diet high in essential fatty acids benefits developing babies as well as the mother according to a recent study. Omega-3, a fatty acid found in fish can reduce the risk of postpartum depression in mothers and improve the nervous system development of fetuses and breast feeding or formula fed babies. Recommendations of the findings are to encourage expecting and new mothers to consume regular servings of fish or take fatty acid supplements.
