New breakthrough with chemotherapy technology for childhood bone cancer

Osteosarcoma is a rare and deadly form of bone cancer that affects children and commonly spreads to the lungs. Paediatric oncologists (specialists in cancer) have developed a way of administering chemotherapy directly to the lungs by inhaling nebulised cisplatin, normally given intravenously. Systemic chemotherapy gives kidney problems and hearing deficits as side effects.
