New drug approved for treatment of nerve damage pain

Lyrica is the first ever FDA approved treatment for nerve damage pain caused by diabetes or shingles. The pain can range from burning, tingling, sharp and stabbing to pins and needles. The FDA is still reviewing its application for treatment of partial adult seizures. Pfizer estimates that nerve damage pain will occur in 3 million diabetics and 150,000 shingles sufferers in America each year. The company claims that clinical trials have proved it safety and efficacy and the most frequent side effects were dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, fluid buildup in legs and ankles, blurred vision, weight gain and concentration difficulties.
