Niemann Pick Disease

Niemann Pick Disease is a rare hereditary condition that affects the metabolism of the sufferer, causing them to develop hepatosplenomegaly, weakness of eye movement, unsteady gait, awkward movements, poor posture, difficulty speaking and intentional tremors. Sufferers develop an enlarged abdomen due the swelling of their liver and spleen, and eventually become wheelchair dependent. There are 3 different variables of Niemann Pick Disease, A, B, and C, with C resulting in death early in life as there are no treatments or cure.
