Parkinsons drug may prove effective against fibromyalgia symptoms

A trial conducted by a rheumatologist has provided evidence that a drug used to treat Parkinsons may also significantly improve symptoms of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia sufferers experience stiffness, muscle spasms, general pain, fatigue and sleep disruptions. 42% of tested patients indicated that their pain had decreased by at least half whereas only 14% of those on a placebo had pain improvement. Other benefits of the drug included better functioning, less fatigue and weight loss.
