Respiratory infections can cause asthma attacks



Asthmatics are more prone to attacks if they have a respiratory infection. 80% of children's asthma attacks and 50% of adult attacks occurred because of respiratory infections. The recommendation is that asthmatics have a flu shot, maintain good hygiene to prevent contamination. The symptoms of asthma deterioration include declining peak flows, coughing, nighttime waking and increased inhaler use.
