Soy diet indicated in heart disease

A study looking at the effect of a soy based protein diet in mice compared with a dairy based protein diet found that the mice with a hereditary heart disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, were more likely to suffer heart failure at an earlier age on the soy diet. Mice on the dairy diet were less likely to exacerbate their hypertrophic cardiomyopathy resulting in heart failure, but were also found to gain weight. Human studies need to be conducted to see if similar dietary choices might influence genetic heart conditions.
