Acetabulum: The acetabulum is the cup shaped part of the ball-and-socket hip joint. The rounded head of the femur fits into the acetabulum, which allows for a wide range of movement of the upper thigh and leg. The acetabulum is made up of portions of three bones: the ilium, the ischium and the pubis.
