Afferent Lymph Vessels: Afferent lymph vessels are a tiny tubes that transport lymph into the lymph node, where it is filtered of potentially harmful pathogens that can cause infection. Each lymph node has multiple afferent lymph vessels. Conditions that can afflict lymph nodes and their afferent lymph vessels include lymphadenopathy, cat scratch fever, swollen lymph nodes, metastasis of cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma.
