Exocrine Glands: Exocrine glands are glands that produce and excrete a variety of secretions through ducts. These secretions, sometimes referred to as hormones, flow to the surface of the body or to the lining of a hollow structure in the body, which are covered by epithelial tissue. There are many types of exocrine glands in the body. Examples include the salivary glands, liver, stomach, prostate, pancreas, sweat glands, lacrimal glands, sebaceous glands, and mammary glands.
A few examples of conditions that afflict the exocrine glands include infection, ulcer, cancer, tumors, obstruction, genetic conditions and sebaceous cysts.
