Stratified Epithelium: Stratified epithelium is a type of epithelial tissue that consists of two or more layers of cells. Stratified epithelium is found in places in the body that need a lot of protection from stress, such as the skin and the lining of the esophagus. Conditions that can afflict the stratified epithelium include cancer, esophageal varices, dysplagia, melanoma, burns, rashes, acne, psoriasis, eczema, warts, infection, trauma, inflammation and lacerations.
