Pemphigus Vulgaris
Pemphigus Vulgaris: Introduction
A rare autoimmune skin disorder involving blisters on the skin and on the mucous membranes such as in the mouth. Pemphigus is a group of autoimmune diseases involving the formation of fluid-filled blisters. Pemphigus vulgaris is a severe and often fatal form of pemphigus and occurs mostly in people aged between 40 and 60. The blisters tend to spread and join into each other and can seriously compromise the skin's protective barrier. Without treatment the condition can lead to complications such as sepsis and electrolyte imbalance which can ultimately lead to death.
