Cancer of the pleura. The pleura are the membranes which surround the lungs and line the inside of the chest cavity. Pleural mesothelioma is a type of pleural cancer where asbestos exposure causes cancer in the pleural tissue (lung membranes) - it is the most common type of mesothelioma.
