Puerperal disorders: Introduction

Any condition that affects a mother from the period of the birth of her child until the uterus returns to normal (up to about 8 weeks). Examples of such conditions include puerperal infection, puerperal fever, puerperal psychosis, postpartum depression and mastitis.
