Scarletina (Scarlet Fever)

Scarletina (Scarlet Fever): Introduction

An acute contagious disease caused by the Group A bacteria of the Streptococcus genus. The condition involves inflammation of the nose, throat and mouth, and a characteristic red rash which gives it its name. This disease is more prevalent in children and is spread through contaminated droplets from an infected person. Today's antibiotics has helped to greatly reduce the incidence and severity of this disease.
