A bite by a spider - spiders use two sharp fangs to bite with and to deliver poisons. Spider bites usually only cause swelling, redness, pain and itching which lasts from a few hours to a few days. Some spider bites may go completely unnoticed. However, bites from poisonous spiders (e.g. black widow spider, red-back spider) can cause serious reactions which may be life-threatening without treatment which usually involves administration of an antivenin.
