Spinal fracture

Spinal fracture: Introduction

A fracture of any of the vertebra of the spine. The spine is the backbone or column of bones (vertebrae) that protects the spinal cord. If the spinal fracture involves damage to the spinal cord within, paraplegia or even quadriplegia may result depending on what part of the spinal cord is affected. All suspected spinal injury victims should be kept as still as possible until medical help arrives.
