Glossary for Strain

  • Ankle sprain: Damage to the ankle ligaments.
  • Forearm muscle strain: Damage to the forearm muscle due to over-stretching of the muscle tissue. The damage involves tearing the muscle tissue. Small blood vessels may also be damaged which can cause bruising. The symptoms may vary from mild to severe depending on the severity of the damage.
  • Injury: Any damage inflicted in the body
  • Knee sprain: Damage to ligaments in the knee.
  • Localized swelling: The localized swelling of a body part
  • Muscle cramps: A condition which is characterized by the uncontrolled contractions of muscles
  • Muscle pain: Pain that is located anatomically in the region of muscles
  • Muscle spasm: A muscle spasm is a sudden, involuntary contraction of a muscle, a group of muscles, or a hollow organ, or a similarly sudden contraction of an orifice.
  • Muscle weakness: A condition which is characterized by an inability of the muscles to function at their full strenght

  • Physical conditions: Any condition that physically affects an individual
  • Sprain: Ligament injury near a joint; compare strain
  • Tendinitis: Inflammation of a tendon.
