Prognosis for Subacute granulomatous thyroiditis: Prognosis is excellent. More than 90% of the patients with de Quervain thyroiditis recover completely, with or without treatment. Even in the 5-10% of patients who develop hypothyroidism, treatment with thyroid hormone is effective.
