Treatments for Subacute granulomatous thyroiditis

• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (800-1200 mg/d in divided doses) or naproxen (1-1.5 g/d in divided doses), or aspirin (2-4 g/d in divided doses) are used. Treatment can be tapered as allowed by the patient's pain. Steroids have no proven superiority to NSAIDs in de Quervain thyroiditis and should be avoided
