- Past history of breast cancer?
- Family history of breast cancer in first degree relative? - increases the risk threefold.

The symptoms your doctor may ask about (in association with Bleeding nipple) may include:

- Symptoms suggestive of metastatic disease e.g. back pain, shortness of breath, weight loss, and headache
- Itching or burning of the nipple, with superficial erosion or ulceration - suggests Paget's disease of the breast.
