Breath odor

Breath odor: Introduction

Bad breath is a reasonably common symptom that may be the simple result of poor dental hygiene. However, different types of breath odor can also indicate certain types of serious medical conditions. For example, a "fruity breath odor" is one of the characteristic symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis, which can be fatal within hours or days. Another example is a "fecal breath odor" which can indicate certain types of intestinal blockage. Have any breath odor symptoms examined promptly by a medical professional.
