The list of diagnostic tests mentioned in various sources as used in the diagnosis of Aggression includes:

  • General appearance - distressed, agitated.
  • Physical examination - looking for causes of delirium.
  • Blood tests - full blood count, thyroid test, Vitamin B12, folate, (looking for a cause that aggravates depression and delirium).
  • Blood glucose level ( looking for hypoglycemia )
  • Liver function test ( looking for alcoholic liver disease)
  • Urine culture - especially in elderly looking for Urinary tract infection that can cause delirium.
  • Urine drug screen - consider if suspect illicit drug abuse.
  • CT and or MRI Brain - if suspect Alzheimer's disease.
