  • Acute intermittent porphyria: A rare inherited metabolic disorder caused by a disturbed porphyrin metabolism resulting in increased production of porphyrin or its precursors. Symptoms include abdominal pain, photosensitivity and neurological disturbances such as seizures, coma, hallucinations and respiratory paralysis.
  • Angina: Angina is a particular type of pain related to heart conditions
  • Arm fracture: Fracture of bones in the arm.
  • Arm injury: An injury to the arm
  • Arm numbness: Loss of feeling or sensation
  • Arm pain: Pain or discomfort of one or both arms
  • Arm pain in children:
  • Arm paresthesia: Arm tingling, prickling, numbness or burning sensations
  • Arm swelling: A swelling located on the arm

  • Back tumour: The presence of tumour growth in the vertebra, whether due to primary malignancies e.g. leukaemic or myeloma infiltration of the bone marrow, or due to secondary metastases from another site e.g. lung or breast.
  • Barrett syndrome: A chronic peptic ulcer of the esophagus.
  • Biceps rupture: Occurs when there is a rupture of the biceps muscle or tendon separating it into two distinct segments
  • Bicipital tendinitis: Bicipital tendinitis, or biceps tendinitis, is an inflammatory process of the long head of the biceps tendon and is a common cause of shoulder pain due to its position and function.
  • Brachial Neuritis: Condition where there is a sudden onset of shoulder weakness and pain, thought to be due to a viral infection of the nerve roots in the cervical spine
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Hand or wrist problems; often from repetitive motion.
  • Cellulitis: inflammation of the subcutaneous fat
  • Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disorder: Degeneration of limb muscles.
  • Chest pain: Pain in the chest region.
  • Common symptoms: The most common symptoms
  • Compartment syndrome: compartment syndrome involves the compression of nerves and blood vessels within an enclosed space. This leads to impaired blood flow and muscle and nerve damage
  • Dobriner syndrome: An inherited metabolic disorder involving a deficiency of coproporphyrinogen oxidase. The condition is similar to but milder than intermittent porphyria and sometimes includes photosensitivity.
  • Elbow pain: Pain or discomfort at the elbow
  • Elbow symptoms: Symptoms affecting the elbow
  • Endodermal sinus tumor: A form of malignant germ cell tumor that occurs mainly in young children. They can occur in the testis, ovaries, uterus, abdomen, thorax, tailbone region, vagina, liver, retroperitoneum and pineal ventricle of the brain. Symptoms will vary depending on the exact location of the tumor.
  • Eosinophilic fasciitis: A rare disorder where the skin on the limbs become painfully inflamed and looses it's elasticity.
  • Epicondylitis: Elbow injury from repeated movements.
  • Epidermoid carcinoma: A non-small-cell type of lung cancer. The cancer develops from cells that line the inside of the lungs.
  • Epidural abscess: Pus accumulating into an abscess on the brain
  • Esophagitis: Inflammation of the esophagus
  • Ewing's sarcoma: Ewing's sarcoma is a malignant round-cell tumor. It is a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone or in soft tissue. The most common areas in which it occurs are the pelvis, the femur, the humerus, and the ribs.
  • Extragonadal Germ Cell Tumor: A rare form of cancer that originates in germ cells that are found in areas such as the brain, chest, tailbone or abdomen rather than the ovaries or testicles. Germ cells are the precursors for male sperm and female eggs. The symptoms are determined by the location and size of the tumor.
  • Finger pain: Pain affecting the fingers
  • Finger symptoms: Symptoms affecting any fingers
  • Forearm injury: Any injury that occurs to the forearm
  • Forearm pain: A feeling of distress and agonycaused by the stimulation of pain nerve endings in the forearm
  • Fractures: Breakage of bones
  • Frozen shoulder: disorder in which the shoulder capsule, the connective tissue surrounding the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder, becomes inflamed and stiff, and grows together with abnormal bands of tissue, called adhesions, greatly restricting motion and causing chronic pain.
  • Golfer's elbow: Golfer's elbow is also known as medial epicondylitis. It is an inflammatory condition of the elbow which in some ways is similar to tennis elbow.
  • Growth plate injuries: Injury to the growing ends of young bones.
  • Hand pain: Pain affecting one or both hands
  • Hand symptoms: Symptoms affecting the hand
  • Heart attack: An acute myocardial infarction
  • Heller-Döhle disease: Inflammation of the aorta which occurs in the later stages of a syphilis infection.
  • Hip cancer: The presence of tumour growth in the bone of the hip, whether due to primary malignancies e.g. leukaemic or myeloma infiltration of the bone marrow, or due to secondary metastases from another site e.g. lung or breast; cancer affecting bone of hip likely to affect other bones e.g. vertebra, ribs
  • Injury: Any damage inflicted in the body
  • Joint symptoms: Symptoms affecting the joints.
  • Limb symptoms: Symptoms affecting the limbs
  • Meninges cancer: A disorder where a cancerous malignancy is found in the meninges of the brain
  • Muscle contusion: muscle contusion is caused when blood vessels are damaged or broken as the result of a blow to the muscle
  • Muscle strain: Damage to a muscle due to over-stretching of the muscle tissue. The damage involves tearing the muscle tissue. Small blood vessels may also be damaged which can cause bruising. The symptoms may vary from mild to severe depending on the severity of the damage.
  • Muscle weakness: Weakness of the muscles or loss of tone
  • Myelitis: Spinal cord inflammation.
  • Myocardial infarction: blood supply to part of the heart is interrupted
  • Neck pain: Pain affecting the neck
  • Neoplasms of the arm: tumors of the arm
  • Nerve entrapment: Compression of a nerve that becomes trapped in a confined space due to any cause e.g. trauma, inflammation or a disease process. This usually occurs near joints. The resulting pressure on the nerve can be very painful and if left untreated can result in damage to the nerve and eventually muscle weakness and wasting. Conditions such as bone spurs, joint swelling due to injury, cysts and trauma can result in nerve entrapment. The exact symptoms will depend on which nerve is trapped and the duration and severity of the entrapment.
  • Nerve symptoms: Symptoms affecting the nerves
  • Neuropathy - ataxia - retinitis pigmentosa: A rare inherited disorder where defects in the energy producing part of cells affects the nervous system and causes symptoms such as muscle and vision problems. Severity and rang of symptoms are variable.

  • Olecranon bursitis: Inflammation of the fluid-filled sac at the pointy end of the elbow. The inflammation can result from trauma to the elbow, infection or chronic injury which can result from frequently resting on the elbows.
  • Osteomyelitis: An infection that occurs in bone
  • Osteosarcoma: Osteosarcoma is the most common type of malignant bone cancer, accounting for 35% of primary bone malignancies. There is a preference for the metaphyseal region of tubular long bones. 50% of cases occur around the knee.
  • Pain: Any type of pain sensation symptoms.
  • Parsonage Turner syndrome: Inflammation of the nerves that carry signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm and hands.
  • Peripheral vascular disease: Disease of arteries supplying the legs or sometimes arms
  • Pinched Nerve: Nerve paralysis from nerve pressure or entrapment.
  • Polycythemia vera: A condition which is characterized by myeloproliferation of unknown etiology
  • Polymyalgia rheumatica: A condition characterized by muscle pain and stiffness, fatigue and fever. It is often associated with giant-cell arteritis which is a related but more serious condition.
  • Porphyria, Ala-D: A very rare inherited disorder where involving a lack of the enzyme delta-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase.
  • Porphyria, hereditary coproporphyria: An inherited disorder that affects the nervous system and sometimes the skin. It occurs when a metabolic disorder results in excessive production of coproporphyrins which accumulate in body tissues and is excreted in large amounts.
  • Postherpetic neuralgia: A condition which is characterized by persistent burning pain and hyperesthesia along the distribution of a cutaneous nerve
  • Prinzmetal's variant angina: A rare disorder where the heart artery spasms which affects the blood flow to the heart and causes pain. The condition can occur with or without physical activity.
  • Radiation-Induced Brachial Plexopathy: A nerve injury that occurs as a complication of radiation treatment to the upper chest area.
  • Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome: A condition characterized by pain and reduced range of motion in the shoulder and hand of the affected arm.
  • Repetitive Strain Injury: Various conditions with inflammation from repetitive movements.
  • Rib symptoms: Symptoms affecting the ribs
  • Scapulocostal syndrome: Pain in the back and or shoulder that may involve other parts of the arms or chest. The cause is unknown but may be a result of postural problems.
  • Sensations: Changes to sensations or the senses
  • Shoulder Pain: Pain or discomfort in the shoulder joint
  • Shoulder bursitis: A condition which is characterized by inflammation of the bursa of the shoulder
  • Shoulder tendinitis: A condition which is characterized by inflammation of the tendons of the shoulder
  • Shoulder-hand syndrome: also known as Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that mainly affects the arms and legs
  • Spinal Cord Tumor: Cancer of the spinal cord or central nervous system.
  • Spondylosis: Spinal degeneration of the discs or spinal joints
  • Syringomyelia: Spinal cord cysts
  • Tendinitis: a painful inflammation of a tendon
  • Tennis elbow: Lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow, is characterized by pain in the back side of the elbow and forearm, along the thumb side when the arm is alongside the body with the thumb turned away.
  • Tenosynovitis: The inflammation of a tendon sheath
  • Thalidomide - Teratogenic Agent: There is evidence to indicate that exposure to Thalidomide during pregnancy may have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. A teratogen is a substance that can cause birth defects. The likelihood and severity of defects may be affected by the level of exposure and the stage of pregnancy that the exposure occurred at.
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome: Pinched shoulder/arm nerve.
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome TOS: A rare disorder involving compression or damage to the nerves and blood vessels that go from the neck to the arms or armpit. It may occur as a birth defect or through some sort of traumato the shoulder area. It can causes symptoms such as arm pain and weakness and can occur on one or both sides depending on the nature of the cause.
  • Trigger finger: Trigger finger is a type of stenosing tenosynovitis in which the sheath around a tendon in the thumb or finger becomes swollen, or a nodule forms on the tendon. The condition is very painful, especially when the locked digit snaps (releases) beyond the restriction by the use of increased force.
  • Ulnar neuritis: little bit of tingling in the little fingers and the sensitivity at the motor elbow when placing the elbow on arm rests in cars or on a chair.
  • Upper arm pain: A feeling of distress and agonycaused by the stimulation of pain nerve endings in the upper arm
  • Whiplash Injuries: An injury to the neck when the neck is rapidly forced backward and then forwards or vice versa. It most commonly occurs in vehicle accidents when the vehicle is stopped abruptly or pushed forwards suddenly.
  • Wrist injury: A condition that is characterised by an injury to the wrist
  • Wrist pain: Pain affecting the wrist area or joint

  • Writer's cramp: A condition which is characterized by cramping of the intrinsic muscles of the hand due to use
