The list of diagnostic tests mentioned in various sources as used in the diagnosis of Bent penis includes:

  • Physical examination
    • Examine for non-tender hard plaque palpable just beneath the skin on the front of the penis which is suggestive Peyronie's disease)
    • Examine for Hypospadias - the urethral opening is displaced on the ventral/back side of the penis. If severe it can cause a curvature of the penis.
    • Examine for epispadias a rare congenital abnormality where the urethra opens on the dorsum/front of the penis. Marked curvature of the penis is usually present evidence of penile scarring due to trauma may be seen
    • Examine for urethral discharge which may suggest Gonorrhea
    • Examine for Dupuytren's contracture of the hand (a visible and palpable thickening and contraction of the palmar fascia causing permanent flexion, most often of the ring finger) associated with Peyronie's disease
    • Retrograde urethrogram - will determine the site and degree of urethral stricture.
    • Urethral swab - for culture of Neisseria Gonorrhea.
    • First pass Urine PCR for Neisseria Gonorrhea
