  • Physical examination
    • If suspect Raynaud's disease, examine for any signs of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, polyarteritis nodosa, Buerger's disease, polycythaemia, leukemia, polymyositis, dermatomyositis that may cause Raynaud's phenomenon
    • If suspect eczema, look for evidence of eczema on other areas of the body such as in front of the elbow, behind the knee, on the hand and feet
  • Blood tests
    • Rheumatoid factor, ANA antibodies, ENA antibodies, dsDNA antibodies, antinuclear and anticentromere antibodies to diagnose possible causes of Raynaud's phenomenon
    • Methemoglobin levels are increased in people with methemoglobinemia or methemoglobin reductase enzyme deficiency
