  • Actinomycosis: A chronic infection usually caused by an organism normally found in human bowels and mouths. The disease usually affects the face and neck and results in deep, lumpy abscesses that emit a grainy pus through multiple sinuses.
  • Angina pectoris: severe chest pain due to ischemia
  • Aortic Aneurysm, Thoracic: Bulging and weakness of the aorta in the area of the chest. The condition is life-threatening as death can occur rapidly if the aneurysm bursts.
  • Arthritis: A condition which is characterized by the inflammation of a joint
  • Broken jaw: Fracture of the jaw bone (mandible)
  • Chemical poisoning - White Phosphorus: White Phosphorus is a chemical used mainly in fertilizers, water treatment, rodenticides and insecticides (for cockroaches). Ingestion and other exposures to the chemical can cause various symptoms. The type and severity of symptoms varies depending on the amount of chemical involved and the nature of the exposure.
  • Chest pain: Pain in the chest region.

  • Dental abscess: Abscess of tooth, gum, or jawbone
  • Dental caries: Decay of the teeth
  • Dental symptoms: Symptoms affecting teeth or mouth area.
  • Dislocated jaw: Improper separation of the jaw bones
  • Dry socket: Exposure of jaw bone after a tooth extraction
  • Ear infection: Any infection of the ear (called otitis)
  • Face symptoms: Symptoms affecting the face
  • Facial pain: Pain affecting the face
  • Familial rectal pain: An inherited severe pain syndrome involving very short but severe episodes of pain in the eyes, rectum or under the jaw. Triggers for episodes include sudden falls, sexual encounters, eating, crying, yawning, vivid dreams and fights. Defecation is the main trigger in infants and younger children. The eye and jaw pain is more common in older children and adults. Patients vary with respect to the number of locations involved.
  • Fractures: Breakage of bones
  • Head symptoms: Symptoms affecting the head or brain
  • Heart attack: An acute myocardial infarction
  • Hyperostosis cortical infantile: A rare inflammatory disorder that affects bones and soft tissue in infants. The condition may affect virtually any bone and causes excessive enlargement of part of the bone (cortex). Infant feeding problems may occur if the jaw bone is affected which can affect weight gain. The inflammatory course of the disease eventually stops and over time the bones remodel to a normal appearance.

  • Jaw conditions: Conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint (the jaw).
  • Jaw joint disorders: Any condition involving the jaw joint.

  • Jaw sprain: Damage to ligaments in the jaw.

  • Joint pain: Pain affecting the joints
  • Migraine: Severe complex headaches that occur periodically
  • Mouth symptoms: Symptoms of the mouth or oral area.
  • Myocardial infarction: blood supply to part of the heart is interrupted
  • Nerve symptoms: Symptoms affecting the nerves
  • Nose symptoms: Symptoms affecting the nose
  • Onychophagia: Excessive biting or chewing of the fingernails. Also called nail biting.
  • Oral pain: Pain in the mouth or oral area.
  • Oropharyngeal cancer, adult: Cancer of the back of the mouth which forms part of the throat including the back of the tongue, tonsils, part of the throat wall and soft palate (oropharynx).
  • Osteoarthritis: A form of degenerative arthritis due to chronic degeneration
  • Pain: Any type of pain sensation symptoms.
  • Prinzmetal's variant angina: A rare disorder where the heart artery spasms which affects the blood flow to the heart and causes pain. The condition can occur with or without physical activity.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: An autoimmune inflammatory condition which primarily affects the joints
  • Sensations: Changes to sensations or the senses
  • Shingles: Infectious viral infection occuring years after chickenpox infection.
  • Sialoadenitis: Salivary gland inflammation due to obstruction of the salivary gland or a duct.
  • Sickle cell crisis: A condition which is characterized by either a hemolytic crisis or vaso-occlusive crisis
  • Sinusitis: Inflammation of the sinus passages (as a symptom)
  • Suppurative parotitis: A pus-producing infection of the parotid gland. It mainly occurs in old or debilitated people who tend to have a dry mouth and a reduced salivary flow.
  • TMJ Syndrome: Disorder of the jaw joint
  • Teeth grinding: Grinding teeth when asleep
  • Temporal arteritis: Inflamed head artery causing headache.
  • Temporo-mandibular ankylosis: A disorder involving stiffness or fusion of the jaw joint which affects the ability of the jaw to open and close normally. The condition may occur congenitally or may be acquired through such things as trauma.
  • Tetanus: A disease caused by chemicals which are produced by a bacterium (clostridium tetani) and are toxic to the nerves. The infection usually occurs when the bacteria enter the body through a deep wound - these bacteria are anaerobic and hence don't need oxygen to survive.
  • Throat symptoms: Symptoms affecting the throat
  • Toothache: Ache or pain affecting a tooth
  • Trigeminal neuralgia: Trigeminal neuralgia is a very painful inflammation of the nerve (trigeminal nerve) that delivers sensations to the face and "surface" of the eye.
  • Warthin's tumor: A tumor of the parotid salivary glands.
  • Whiplash Injuries: An injury to the neck when the neck is rapidly forced backward and then forwards or vice versa. It most commonly occurs in vehicle accidents when the vehicle is stopped abruptly or pushed forwards suddenly.
