Taeniasis

Introduction: Taeniasis

Infection by a particular type of tapeworm e.g. beef tapeworm, pork tapeworm. Humans become infected usually through eating raw or undercooked beef or pork which is infected with the tapeworm. The tapeworms can live in the human digestive tract for several years and can grow many meters in length - up to 25 meters! Taeniasis often produces no symptoms.

Symptoms of Taeniasis

• Nausea
• Abdominal pain
• Appetite change
• Weakness
• Weight loss
