Urethral stricture

Urethral stricture: Introduction

An abnormal narrowing of the urethra which is the tube that allows urine to pass out of the body. In males the urethra also allows semen to pass out of the body during ejaculation. The narrowing may be due to inflammation, injury, disease or scar tissue from surgery. It can cause painful urination and ejaculation and spraying of urine as well as other symptoms. The condition is more common in men than women.
