Glossary for Uterine Cancer

  • Abdominal Cancer: Growth of abnormal cells (tumour) affecting the organs in the abdominal cavity; may be due to primary growth of a tumour or spread from another tumour (metastases, secondary tumour)
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding: refers to vaginal bleeding at any time during the menstrual cycle other than normal menstruation
  • Bone cancer: Malignancy that occurs in the bone
  • Cancer: Abnormal overgrowth of body cells.
  • Cervical Cancer: Cervical cancer is malignant cancer of the cervix uteri or cervical area
  • Colorectal cancer: Cancer of the colon (bowel) or rectum.
  • Endometrial Cancer: Cancer of the endometrium (uterus lining).
  • Endometrial hyperplasia: Thickening of the endometrium (lining of the uterus)
  • Endometriosis: Misplaced uterus tissue causing scar tissue.
  • Female sexual conditions: Sexual conditions that affect the female
  • Hysterectomy: The surgical removal of the female uterus
  • Liver cancer: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary malignancy of the liver.
  • Lung cancer: Lung cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. This growth may lead to metastasis, which is the invasion of adjacent tissue and infiltration beyond the lungs. Most lung tumors are malignant.
  • Painful intercourse: Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Pelvic Cancer: Any malignancy that is located in the anatomical location of the pelvis
  • Pelvic pain: Pelvic pain is usually elated to pain due to visceral organs situated in the pelvic area such as uterus, bladder..
  • Post-menopausal bleeding: onset of bleeding after menopause
  • Progesterone - Teratogenic Agent: There is evidence to indicate that exposure to Progesterone during pregnancy may have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. A teratogen is a substance that can cause birth defects. The likelihood and severity of defects may be affected by the level of exposure and the stage of pregnancy that the exposure occurred at.
  • Urinary difficulty: Various difficulties with urination
  • Urination pain: Urinary pain or burning related to urination (dysuria)
  • Uterine fibroids: Benign nodules in the uterus wall.
  • Uterus conditions: Any condition that affects the female uterus
  • Uterus symptoms: Symptoms affecting the female uterus
  • Vaginal bleeding: Bleeding in or from the vagina.
  • Vaginal discharge: Discharge from the vagina as a symptom
